News about "Omega Chase"

Introduction

"Omega Chase" is the title of the comic book project I am working on since February of this year.

I am the "artist", meaning, I do the pencils and inks of the interior pages, and I am also the co-creator.

About...

Omega Chase is the story of Mack Baron, a guy who despite being a sheriff in the 188os, has recollections of his adventures in Medieval times, knows what happened in NY on September 11, 2001, and has traveled the outer space in the 24th century.

What's really uncanny about it is that Mack does not understand why he remembers all of that... Or how come he's "here", "now" and not "there", "then".

So the story of Omega Chase tells the "vida" of Mack, traveling through time, as he slowly learns the truth behind his mysterious life.

Publication

The Omega Chase story will be published in comic book format starting sometime 2006, as an 8 issue mini series. Since the story is weird, so the publication. The mini series is organized in four chapters of two monthly issues each. Chapters will be three to four months appart.

Credits

I am NOT doing this alone... :)

Omega Chase is co-created and written by Keith Dallas, my NY writer amigo, Review Editor at Silver Bullet Comics (http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com), University Professor and other interesting things too.

The book is edited by Egg Embry, talented writer, and PR at Arcana Studio Comics (http://www.arcanastudio.com).

Finally, other talents also participate in the project: Joel Harris and Mike Kowalczyk, both colorists, and Steven Cummings, cover artist for issues 1 & 2.

Status

Issue 1 is almost done. We still need to color the cover and three interior pages, letter the issue, and work on the "extras" (pinups, etc.) So it is not far from complete!

Issue 2 is way on its way. Only two inked pages are left for me to finish it in black and white. B&W cover is also ready.

About the Colors

We could have finished issue 1 earlier, but unfortunatelly, Joel Harris left the team...

So we had to look for another colorist.

And we did find it in Mike Kowalczyk. Mike had to mimic Joel's style to fill in the blanks, and he did it perfectly. He's finishing issue 1, and is eager to apply his own style on "virgin" material.

(Note: issue #2 was colored by John Hunt, Berny Julianto, Massimo Capizzi, and Meha Nathan ~ July 1, 2008)

That web page shows the first 11 pages of issue 1. But there's more, oh yeah, much more than meets the eye! I'll show more in future posts.

Your Feeback

I hope you like Omega Chase so far. It'd be great to hear what you think of it. You may leave your comments or questions in this post. Thanks in advance!

Comic Book Movies: Fantastic Four

Today I rented and saw "Fantastic Four".

NICE...

One of the best comic book-based movies I've seen.

I really enjoyed the scenes where Johnny mocks the Thing (just like in the book!) , he plays the playboy (on the motorcycle kissing the girl!) or just shows off himself in front of cameras and people.

I also liked the effects very much, specially the Torch and the Invisible Woman's force field.

About her, I have to admit that I had second thoughts when I learned that Jessica Alba was to play Sue Storm. But she won me in the movie. Besides being a beautiful Sue, she did a very good job as Ms.Richards. Actually, I think the whole cast was very well chosen.

Good story too. Except for Dr.Doom, pretty close to the comic book version.

The "broche de oro" to me was Stan Lee's cameo, which are always special. And the last scene: The fire 4 sign in the sky: Fantastic.

Definetelly wish to see round two.

Inicio

I used to have a personal journal in my early teen years.

Way back then (I am in my 30s now), I would sit down and record the most important events of my life in the sheets of my diary.

Of course, those events were almost always about the girls I liked, or dated.

The diary was my friend. I could tell it anything I wanted. And it listened.

Then, I would read what I had written, to relive those experiences, or learn from made mistakes.

After about two years of writing it, I decided to stop doing it. I felt that by discharging all my "energy" telling my paper-made friend about what I should do in this or that situation, I had no energy left to deal with those situations in real life. As if by discharging my "plans", I then didn't have the strength to put them in action. I was like deflated. Oh well...

So I left the diary... for a while. I came back to it when my personal events were very important. I did that once in a while until my early 20s (big boy!). Of course, all those times, I wrote about things that had happened, never about the way I wanted things to happen or how I should act about things that might happen. I learned my lesson. And I didn't need such discharge either. I was not a teen anymore.

So what happened? Why am I writing a diary now?

Well, I've done it before, and why not do it again. But this one is special in a sense that is a communications device with cyber space. It is for my family and friends to see what I am doing but also for those who share my interests, I hope they find something useful in this diary on the web.

Sit down and enjoy the ride.
